Sue Taoka

Co-Chair

After retiring as Executive Vice President of Craft3 in 2019, Sue Taoka transitioned to a leadership role as Board Director. In 2025, she stepped up as Board Co-Chair, continuing her deep commitment to community development.

With a dynamic career spanning 24 years in Seattle’s International District, Sue has been a driving force in urban revitalization and equity-focused initiatives. She previously served as Executive Director of the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority and Interim Executive Director of the Community Development Association. Her public service also includes time as Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Norm Rice.

A founding member of the National Coalition of Asian Pacific American Community Development, Sue has held board positions with the Seattle Investment Fund, Crescent Collaborative (formerly Yesler Community Collaborative), and the Friends of Little Saigon. Her leadership extends to the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council and the Federal Reserve Board’s Community Advisory Council, where she continues to influence policy and investment strategies that support thriving communities.

Outside of her professional work, Sue finds joy in gardening, tai chi, knitting, hiking, and traveling with her husband, Dicky Mar. She is a proud mother to Emiko and Isamu.
