“When problem solving or tackling challenges, it's not about the power of ‘me’—it’s about the power of ‘us.’ When we do it collectively, we do it better, and I firmly believe that.”

As a leader for Craft3’s New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) program, Steven navigates federal applications, allocation deployment, asset management, compliance, and investor reporting. At its core, his work is about building relationships and creating lasting impacts. “When I was a lender, I saw how Craft3 made a difference for individual borrowers, their families, and their businesses. Moving into our New Markets Tax Credits program, I can see the larger impacts of the work that affects communities and last generations.”

Steven works proactively, educating potential partners and conducting outreach well before projects need funding. His focus is on identifying opportunities, addressing challenges, and helping communities access the resources they need for sustainable development.

Since joining Craft3 in 2021, Steven has driven projects that transform underserved communities across the Pacific Northwest. He brings a mix of humor and perspective to his work. “The work we do can be heavy—it’s not linear, and the stakes can be high. Humor keeps things in perspective. I take my job seriously, but not myself.”

Outside of work, Steven serves on the boards of The Dougy Center, Westside Community Focus, and Northwest Housing Alternatives; and enjoys mixing music, downhill mountain biking, snowboarding, and spending time with his family.
